Quality Guidelines: Doing Your Part for Everyone
According to a survey conducted by the International Food Safety Council in Chicago and CMF&Z Public Relations in Des
Moines, IA, 52 percent of consumers reported that food safety has become more important to them than it was a year
before.
With this increase in public concern, Sysco is doing its part with the industry's largest and most capable staff of
Quality Assurance professionals who make sure that Sysco Brand products are as safe and as wholesome as possible. Our
Quality Assurance team works closely with manufacturers to enforce proper food safety procedures whenever any Sysco
Brand product is produced.
We've taken this commitment even further with HACCP, the preventative system used by processors to ensure the safety of
their products to consumers. We have also required all suppliers of products we deliver to do the same-whether the
product is Sysco Brand or not.
But food safety is everyone's responsibility from the field to the table. And that's where ServSafe, a program created
by the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association, comes in. This course helps operators establish
and maintain a safe operation and has certified more than 800,000 foodservice professionals internationally. Many of
our Sysco Operating Companies have certified trainers on staff who conduct food safety seminars for our customers.
For more information, call the NRA Educational Foundation at 1.800.765.2122 or contact your Sysco Marketing Associate.
Together, we're working to make food safer for everyone. Next issue: Beef, E. coli and Sysco's prevention.
