Our Partners

As the leader of health and wellness, Sysco has aligned with key health organizations and has been involved in many nutrition initiatives
Product For Better Health

Sysco has aligned with Produce for Better Health Foundation’s Fruits and Veggies More Matters campaign. The goal of the campaign is to give visibility to healthful products and promotions that increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables. In 2014, 2015, 2016 Sysco and FreshPoint were recognized with PBH’s highly regarded Role Model Award. In 2014, Sysco was recognized as the first foodservice distributor to win the Role Model Award.

Good Choice

Sysco has also aligned with Good Choice NYC, which is a CDC funded program through the NYC Department of Health, to identify and promote healthier “Good Choice” products in the NYC area. Since 2013 Sysco Metro New York and SHAPE have been working with the NYC Department of Health to identify and promote healthier “Good Choice” products. The initiative flags healthy items stocked by Sysco so that Marketing Associates can give healthier product recommendations to customers.

Sodium Reduction Initiative

The last alignment is with The Sodium Reduction initiative which is a goal of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. While the grant application process is underway, we are currently working with multiple OpCos to identify products lower in sodium and to work with customers to purchase sodium conscious options.

Our Health Initiatives

Kids LiveWell

Kids LiveWell promotes menu items that meet the scientific guidelines for healthful eating. These approved recipes use a variety of healthful ingredients available through Sysco, and eliminate the need for foodservice operators to invest in their own nutritional analysis. Sysco is the National Restaurant Association’s endorsed distribution partner and offers the only proprietary turnkey program for operators supporting the Kids LiveWell initiative.

Gluten-Free

An estimated 1 in 133 Americans has Celiac Disease, and the only existing treatment is a 100% gluten-free diet. This may be why the gluten-free market is now a growing $4.2 billion dollar industry. Since it can be difficult to find establishments with acceptable gluten-free menu items, customers often become loyal to those that can best meet their dietary requirements. The health experts behind Sysco SHAPE have created a catalog to teach you how to successfully add gluten-free options to your menu. You’ll soon learn how easy it is to capitalize on this growing market, and effectively implement gluten-free options within your business.
